We don’t have to journey alone.
He is right beside us
every step of the way.

About Kara

Kara and her husband Conrad live in Calgary, Canada where she was a teacher for close to 30 years. She agrees with C.S. Lewis, ” You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.” She loves the Word of God and encouraging others through her devotional writing.

Searching for Sea Glass

Kara’s devotional book, Searching for Sea Glass: Journeying with God through Chronic Illness, was written out of her own experience with chronic illness. Her prayer is that her journey and refinement would encourage you in yours.

Kara writes, “For now, I will remember how God speaks to me as I search for bits of colour on the beach. Each piece I find is a reminder that he is refining me. The once-broken pieces of glass have been turned into treasures through the constant buffeting of the waves, scraping on the sand, crashing into rocks and eventually ending up on a beach where someone with a watchful eye may spot their beauty, We are all rough and broken but God uses events, people and circumstances in our lives to wear away the sharp edges; to soften and shape us into who He knows we can be.”

What others are saying…

“Battling against mulitple autoimmune diseases myself, I found encouragement, support, and peace of mind and heart through the author’s uplifting devotionals. By design, the format helped me to slow down and focus on the many specific struggles and challenges of dealing with chronic illness. Kara’s devotionals always point towards Jesus, and through her incorporation of God’s Word, my faith in the Lord was strengthened.” – Chantelle

“A difficult journey is easier taken with someone who has a gentle and encouraging spirit and has travelled the road before. Thirty days with Kara’s book will lift the spirits of someone who’s just starting the chronically ill journey and will refresh the perspectives of someone who’s been travelling it, as I have, for decades.” – Jill

“From colour pallet to scripture choice this volume is a quilt of grace that has been fashioned from Kara’s own journey and I was honoured to be wrapped in it for the past 30 days.”

– Laurel
